South Africa to re-allow elephant cull

According to the BBC, The South African government banned the culling of elephants since 1995, and this issue has already brought animal rights activists out of the wood-work.  It has also brought out the other side of contention on the issue - those that feel the elephants are dangerous to those that live near their habitat.  They eat crops and compete with people for water, or so the argument goes.

The elephant population is thought to have grown from 8,000 to 18,000 since the government banned culls in 1995.

From Cambodia to Charleston

       

Greetings, I'm 27 and I'm from a little bit south of Stung Treng.  I was trying to figure out how to go back to college (I am a network communications major) and one of my online friends suggested coming to stay with him while I study for a while in the U.S.  He lives in Charleston, South Carolina.  He suggested that I could attend one of many technical colleges there, take some advanced classes and maybe teach some if I am lucky. 

When I got there after I got my luggage through customs- there was a problem because the tag had disappeared from one of my bags- I was immediately impressed. Charleston is a bustling town and I recommend anyone to visit it. 

After an expensive plane ticket I needed some extra income so I took up some internet writing for Africa Media and some other websites about expatriation. It is an interesting subject to me because I personally know many people who move from their home countries to make a life somewhere else.  In my search for colleges I applied at Trident, Miller-Motte, and a few others.  The problem I ran into right away is that my health insurance had lapsed and most of the colleges require a policy. 

So I looked into getting Cambodia Health Insurance.  I realized that if I get injured, I don't want to have to go back to Cambodia to be treated, since I don't have U.S. citizenship I don't feel comfortable, even if it wasn't a requirement to attend school.  Cambodia Health Insurance is a very courteous and prompt service who can help you find the policy that covers your needs at a very competitive price. 

Other than that, my trip is going great.  It turns out I never would have needed insurance, as I am very healthy to this day and haven't broken any bones.  I am in the process of reapplying for a visa because I am in the middle of some great people and I hope I don't have to leave anytime soon.

Violence In Kenya

This is an interesting video that might illuminate more of the events surrounding the death of Wesly Ngetich.

Wesly Ngetich - Dead from Arrow Wound

Wesly Ngetich had won the Grandma's Marathon in 2005 and 2007.

He was trying to make it out of the country attend another marathon in AZ, but could not escape the country due to the ongoing violence and ultimately succumbed.  Violence has been rampant in the streets in Kenya!

This is the second international athlete to have died during this recent uprising, runner Lucas Sang, was hacked to death in western Kenya.

The runner left a farm of 150 cows and likely a family.

Kenyan marathon runner hit by light rail!

James Kipkenboy from Kenya was hit by a tram at a marathon race in Athens!!
